Core Resource: a saturated collection of Mu-induced maize mutants
with visible chloroplast defects
Chlorophyll-deficient phenotypes arise from lesions in most
aspects of chloroplast biogenesis:
- synthesis, targeting, assembly of photosynthetic enzymes
- targeting of proteins to and within the chloroplast
- chloroplast gene expression
- pigment, prosthetic group, lipid synthesis
- light perception
1984 mutants are currently in the collection. We anticipate the
screen will be saturated at ~2500 mutants.
